Hospital Schools

Hospital Schools provide education to children prevented from attending school due to hospital admissions or because of a medical condition which prevents them from accessing a mainstream school. Below are details on local Hospital Schools within the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea or neighbouring boroughs.

Chelsea Community Hospital School (4-18)

The Chelsea Community Hospital School provides education for both children and young people while they are in hospital and also caters for pupils who cannot access mainstream school due to their medical conditions.

Children learn in their Key Stage groups but also have much needed 1:1 support and individual sessions. Staff work closely with children’s home schools and liaise directly with home school staff ensuring that they plan appropriately for each child.

The school currently uses the Equals Curriculum for pupils with SEN and P levels to assess their needs and progress. Staff are trained in using Makaton and PECS through in house training. The service is provided across four locations.
