Therapy services such as Speech and Language Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Mental Health Support and Physiotherapy can sometimes be difficult to access in Adult Services. Many Young People can see their Therapy Services stop once they leave school. However, if a Young Person remains in Education and has an EHC Plan which explicitly documents their need of a specific therapy service, they should continue to receive this support via Education.
Other avenues for accessing these services include:
A Referral from your GP or another Healthcare Specialist.
RBKC Learning Disability Team.
RBKC Learning Disability Team (18+)
The Learning Disability Team provides a multi-disciplinary service made up of Social Workers, Care Managers, Community Nurses, Occupational Therapists, Physiotherapists, Psychologists, Speech and Language Therapists, Psychiatrist and Behavioural Support Team.
The Learning Disability Team and the Therapy Services they provide can only be accessed if a Young Person meets the threshold for this service. They are generally only supported in Social Care settings (Education should provide Therapy Support for those with an EHC plan which states their need for this).
