EHC Plans can extend up until the age of 25 if a young person remains in education or training. This can include Apprenticeships and Supported Internships with a registered Educational Facility. If a young person leaves education or takes a break the EHCP will either cease or lapse.
After the age of 16 a young person can request an EHC assessment themselves. However, carers or educational settings can still make application on behalf of the young person.
