Communication Passports

Communication passports were developed to enable staff to quickly understand the needs of disabled children. Parents and children can create them together, they can put as much or as little information as they wish. Families and staff have found them an extremely helpful and practical tool, enabling them to understand the needs of disabled children without having to ask questions over and over again!

Passports come as a pack and contain an A5 photo album two copies of 18 black and white inserts one is master copy so that parents can photocopy them if they need to. Inserts have been illustrated by Clare Mackie www.claremackie.com and they cover a wide variety of subjects such as Emergency Details, Personal Care, I Am Working On This! I Need Help With…., About My Family etc.

Some parents have two copies, one for play sites and another for respite provision. This enables parents to give tailored information to different services. 70 children in Kensington and Chelsea have received a communication passport and we are currently developing a version for adults with complex needs.
